On Friday, December 16, 2016, the Ontario Minister of Energy announced changes to be made to the FIT 5 Procurement Target and canceling the FIT 6 procurement.

The changes are as follows:

  1. Un-procured MW from the 2016 microFIT Procurement Target will no longer be rolled into the FIT 5 Procurement Target. As of early December 2016 approximately 9.3 MW of microFIT had been procured in 2016, leaving roughly 40 MW that was intended to be rolled into the FIT 5 Procurement Target.
  2. Attrition from past Small FIT Contracts will no longer be rolled into the FIT 5 Procurement Target.
  3. The final round of FIT procurement, FIT 6, has been canceled. This procurement was to run in 2017 and would have had a Procurement Target of 150 MW.

The FIT 5 Procurement Target will remain at the base 150 MW, and microFIT will continue to run in 2017 with a Procurement Target of 50 MW. Maintaining these original allotments represents a return to the originally defined Procurement Targets for these programs.
