Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP)

This program, offered through NRCan aims to support Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure for municipalities, regional & provincial governments on-street parking, and private enterprises with public parking such as (but not limited to) service stations, arenas, libraries, casinos, restaurants, medical offices etc. Full details can be found here.

Rebate Deadline: September 18, 2019

  • Up to 50% of total project costs

  • Project cost up to $5M CAD per project

Funding Amounts:

  • Level 2 Charging – $5000/ connector
    (must support charging & parking space)

  • Fast-Charging (20kW to <50kW) – $15,000/station

  • Fast-Charging (50kW +) – $50,000/station

Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
Demonstration Program (EVID)

The EVID program looks to promote and accelerate the next generation of clean energy infrastructure. This program supports demonstration innovative EV charging projects. Full details can be found here.

Rebate Deadline: October 18, 2019

  • Up to 50% of total project costs

  • Minimum $250,000 to be requested

  • Project costs up to $3,000,000 CAD per project

Technology Readiness Level (TRL):

  • Project Start: Minimum 5 TLR

  • Project Completion: Minimum 8 TLR

Climate Action Incentive
Fund (CAIF)

The CAIF progam offer various incentive rebates to support small (1-99 employees) to medium (100-499 employees) sized businesses (including farms) for retrofit upgrades. Full details can be found here.

Rebate Deadline: October 14, 2019

  • Up to 25% of projects eligible costs

  • Project cost between $20,000 – $250,000 CAD per project and recipient

Eligible Project Categories:

  • Agricultural retrofits

  • Building retrofits* (* this also includes: Renewable Energy Systems (e.g. solar photovoltaic, wind energy, micro-hydro, stand-alone storage systems) on-site and for own-use.

  • Electricity, energy or fuel production

  • Industrial process improvements

  • Transportation retrofits

  • Waste

Zero Emission Vehicle
Awareness Inititative

This NRcan initiative is now accepting proposals for funding consideration. The initiative aims to increase awareness of Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) and supporting infrastructure to support a greater adoption of ZEVs by Canadians. The project program will accept 6 to 10 applicants for funding. Full details can be found here.

Rebate Deadline: September 20, 2019

  • Up to 50% of total project costs

  • Maximum payable $50,000 CAD

  • Projects must be complete by March 31, 2020

Recipient Eligibility (not inclusive):

  • Electricity or gas utilities

  • Companies and academic institutions

  • Indigenous and community groups

Project Eligibility (samples):

  • Outreach and awareness campaigns including workplace awareness and visibility of charging infrastructure

  • Develop resources including web-based portals, curriculums, training & guides

  • Implementing test drive events and facility ZEVs showcases
