Terra Nova Nordic Spa & Café
Commercial Solar Installation for Terra Nova Nordic Spa & Café
This past year, Terra Nova Nordic Spa & Café in Woodstock, Ontario partnered with Arcadian Projects to design and install a commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) net-metering system aimed at reducing operating expenses and improving long-term energy performance.
This commercial solar project supports Terra Nova Nordic Spa & Café’s sustainability goals by lowering their reliance on grid electricity, decreasing their carbon footprint, and helping them deliver wellness experiences powered by clean, renewable energy.
As part of the project, Terra Nova Nordic Spa & Café received a Clean Technology Investment Tax Credit (ITC) and an Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance (CCA). The ITC covered approximately $87,000, while the CCA provided an additional $42,000 which helped them invest in solar power, making it a smart long-term investment for the business.
In order to design the most efficient solar system, our team analyzed Terra Nova Nordic Spa & Café’s past utility consumption, available roof space, and current electrical capacity. The custom engineered solar energy system is expected to generate approximately 118,000 kilowatt-hour (kWh) per year, enough to offset 100% of the spa’s energy consumption. The system will reduce CO₂ emissions by 17.388 tonnes annually, with a lifetime savings of roughly 400 tonnes of CO₂, significantly decreasing the spa’s environmental footprint.
With a simple payback period of 8.3 years, the spa will begin seeing financial returns within the first decade.
Project Overview & Solar System Details:
- Trades Utilized – Electricians
- Supply & installation of 292 solar panels
- Installation of Solis 125K-EHV-5G-US-PLUS 125kW inverter
- Transformer Upgrade – To support the commercial solar system, Terra Nova Nordic Spa & Café’s existing on-site backup generator was integrated into the design, with a new splitter between the main service, as well as an automatic transfer switch
Project Timeline: From the initial site assessment and system design to solar panel installation and ESA inspection, the project took 9 months to complete.
The custom engineered solar system was designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce long-term electricity costs.
By adopting commercial solar, Terra Nova Nordic Spa & Café is expected to reduce operating costs and achieve long-term energy sustainability. This project demonstrates Arcadian’s commitment to delivering tangible financial and environmental results for businesses investing in renewable energy.
